ICE Event
The Gordon Memorial Baptist Association agreed in late 2008 to conduct an Intentional Community Evangelism outreach in Calhoun. The outreach was a joint effort of seven associational churches, Belmont, Meadowdale, Reeves, Riverview, Salem, South Calhoun, and Trinity.
The outreach targeted three areas: Forrest Heights Apartments, Spring Valley Subdivision, and McConnell road area. The outreach proved to be a success in multiple ways and God was honored through these efforts.
The vision of Rev. Doug Ledford, DOM, and Rev. Mitch Phillips, Associational Evangelism Director, to pull churches together and reach Gordon County for Christ is reflected in the following statistics:
- Eight ICE trained soul winners came in to lead and mentor local church members in evangelism during the two day outreach.
- Twenty-three local church members participated in the outreach.
- Nine associational pastors participated.
- Nine associational churches joined together for the outreach.
- 1,800 gospel tracts were distributed in the community.
- Thirty-one people made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ.
- Ten people rededicated their life to Christ.
- Ten church prospects were located.
